TRAINING COLLEGE FOR THE TEACHERS OF THE INTELECTUALL DISABILITY :-
Today, there are more than 90 institutions working for the education and training of the Intellectual Disabled children in the state. This is specialized field and teachers trained in the field of special education can only give proper training to Intellectual Disabled children. The necessity of having a training collage for the teachers of the Intellectual Disabled children was a long felt need of the state in eighties and trusts proposal for starting such a collage for teachers of Intellectual Disabled children was pending with the state Government’s the social welfare department, Gandhinagar. Realizing the need of such training sanctioned the Trust proposal during the year 1988-89.
⦁ As per the order of the state Government the trust started the training collage from 15th June, 1990. One year Diploma for mental retarded formally called its DMR. Now since 2001 we had take recognition of Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi. RCI granted total capacity of 20 trainees. Accordingly, 20 students were admitted in consultation with the social Defence department, Gujarat state Gandhinagar. And directed by the state Government RCI syllabus for Diploma in special education (Mental Retardation) also called DSE (MR) was introduced from the academic year 2001-02. RCI has issued a permanent recognition certificate for period of five year from 2005-06 to 2010-11 with intake capacity of 25 students and Course syllabus revised since 2018 and also new name of the course is D.ED.SPl.EDU.(ID) . The previous recognition is till to 2021-22.
